Ginger Kessel
Financial Advisor
Ginger's career in finance began in high school when she worked part-time at a credit union. While she didn't know at the time that this would be the first steppingstone to a career in the financial services industry, her love of numbers would naturally lead her through a progression of positions in banking. In 2001 Ginger was drawn to the securities industry where she began as a sales assistant at Smith Barney. After being provided with a set of study books for securities licensing, Ginger became licensed in 2003.
Later that year, Jim McCarthy joined the Smith Barney team in Walla Walla. Ginger & Jim eventually became partners, and though the Smith Barney office in Walla Walla closed in 2009, they continued working together until his retirement in 2023.
In 2020, Ginger began doing business under the independent brand, Compass Financial Services. With an ever-changing landscape in the securities industry, Ginger appreciates the stability of something constant. Independence gives Ginger the opportunity to align with partners that best fit the needs of the clients she serves, while also providing a local anchor.
After more than two decades in the securities industry, Ginger has experienced the highs and lows of market cycles. She works with clients to build portfolios that meet their current needs, while also considering their risk tolerance and future goals. She is well-versed in tax management and enjoys helping clients with estate planning.
